The Southlands Campaign
Late in coming to the drawing board, I decided I wanted to do this or I would never get around to using my Lizardmen (seeing there doesn't appear to be anything involving Lustria on the immediate horizon). The Southlands is a bit more condusive to my collection, too, since most of it was assembled during the early Lizardman Army Book when it was "skink heavy." In addition, I collected models from RAFM for several years to use for my early Slann army. Although not skinks, these models are certainly closer in appearance to skinks than Saurus. Therefore, I may be able to use them as my Skink Cohorts when the armies take to the field.
The Southlands is another prime area to focus on for Imperialist Expansion as many races go south to claim natural resources. It starts with the Constrictor War between the Lizardmen and Beastmen. Both are all ready inhabitants of the continent and have a legitimate Right to the land that they fight for. I'm throwing in the High Elves (and Sea Elves, representing the maritime expeditionary forces hatched from the Storm of Chaos book). They're invested in keeping the Southlands out of Chaos hands.
Three years on, just when it seems the war is over, Estalia lands the first colonists since the disappearance of the Dwarfs or the founding of Antioch many years before. Estalia is followed by an ambitious Vampire and eventually, the Empire.
In any event, this campaign follows the Campaign Node and jungle rules first laid out in the Lustria game supplement. All battles will be fought on a jungle table using these rules.
The current status is that armies are deployed on the map (below) and the opening stages of the campaign have taken place. There was even a convenient assassination to kick the whole thing off. There are two battles that need to take place, but I need to get the models for the armies and the scenery for the table completed before the battles go to table. Battle Reports will be forthcoming as the campaign progresses.
This PDF is a recap of the Campaign Turn Sequence from Lustria. It also lays out the reinforcement schedule for the build up of armies in the region.
Rather than a fluffy back story like the Cathay Campaign, this is simply a log showing the movement of armies and events through the Campaign Turn Sequence.
