There is really very little distinction between Allies, Regiments of Renown and Dogs of War.
Everyone recognizes the Regiments of Renown as established regiments, led by a character of note, released by Games Workshop many years ago. One PDF file taken from a White Dwarf issue for 6th Edition covers most of these regiments. Never the less, there are other late comers (like Menghils Manflayers) that came along later and will show up as special files. I have also taken the liberty of creating my own, based on unit Champions who have been upgraded from 5th Edition Warhammer and need a unit to accompany them (like Bertrand the Brigand from the Bretonnian army). However, most of them will be official units released by Games Workshop.
I've defined Dogs of War as a separate army list all together. This is where the Dogs of War army list resides (as in, what Games Workshop uses for "Tilea") as well as the Chaos Dwarf Army list from the old 6th Edition "Hordes" roster. In addition, I am placing my own Alternative armies in this section.
Allies are what I call units that have been discontinued from an earlier army book or other units that I created to accommodate models. Allies are specific to a single army (like the Empire War Wagon).

Undead The
Army of the Cairns adapted from White Dwarf 310. This is a "combined" Undead list unique to Heinrich Kemmler and Nagash (similar to the 4th Edition Undead before Tomb Kings were separated out) and includes the profile for Mummies as cited in the rules for Nagash.

Dragon Princes (High Elf dragon riders from the War of the Beard rules set).
